Shri Raj Kumar Singh is Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the Government of India. He was elected to 16th Lok Sabha of Indian Parliament from Arrah, Bihar in May 2014 and re-elected to 17th Lok Sabha, Indian Parliament in May 2019 from the same constituency of Arrah, Bihar.
He did Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English Literature, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Diploma in Management. He was educated at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, Magadh University and RVB Delft, Netherlands.
He is a former Indian bureaucrat and joined the IPS in 1974 and the IAS in 1975. He has served as Union Home Secretary, Government of India; Secretary, Department of Defence Production, Government of India; Principal Secretary, Road Construction Department, Government of Bihar; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India; Home Secretary, Government of Bihar; Commissioner - Patna Division; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India; Director, Ministry of Defence, Government of India; Administrator of the Bihar State Cooperative Marketing Federation; Inspector General of Prisons, Bihar State; District Magistrate of Patna and District Magistrate of East Champaran.
